Yay! It's finally December!!! And that means BLOGMAS. We are beyond excitement to be doing this and hope you guys will love it as much as we do!
We thought we would start out with a list of some of our favourite things to do during Christmas time. Most of these we've either done already or plan to do in the very near future! Let us know if you do any of them!
1. Visit a Christmas market - We visited the Edinburgh Christmas market last week and it was magical. There's a Christmas tree maze, rides, stalls, ice skating and all the food you could eat. There is nothing that gets me more in the Christmas spirit than a good Christmas market. Look out for our post with the pictures from our trip coming later this week!
2. Have a Christmas movie night - A movie night with friends is always fun, but a movie night with friends and Christmas movies is even better. Your ultimate guide to Christmas movies is coming soon too. Until then, White Christmas or The Grinch are always good options!
3. Go for a festive coffee date - With a friend, family member or that special someone, a cute Christmassy coffee date in a unique coffee shop can really get you in the mood for Christmas!
4. Go to a carol service - As a regular church goer I guess this is an obvious one for me but my non-religious friends always like a good carol service too. It's also a good opportunity to check out the inside of some of the grand old churches around where I live. I love Christmas and I love carol singing so a carol service is always high on my list of priorities at Christmas time.
5. Have a Christmas baking afternoon - Gingerbread men, mince pies or just some regular baking with good Christmas music and your afternoon is sorted. Not only do you have some fun making a mess in the kitchen but, if all goes well, you have some yummy treats to eat afterwards.
6. Make a fort - This is an all year round option but on a cold, rainy day a fort is an excellent idea. The picture above is from a fort we made a few weeks ago. It was massive and cosy and beautiful! Cusions, fairylights and a movie and you can spend hours happily pretending your a child again!
7. Decorate your house - An obvious one I know but when we decorate our house for Christmas it marks the point where I truly unleash the pent up excitement that has been building since November. In my house we decorate after my brothers birthday on the 15th of December so at that point the countdown is almost in single digits...EEEE
8. Go to see the Christmas lights being put on - By the 1st of December most places have already put their lights on but maybe there's still a few places around you that haven't. Grab a camera, some friends and lots of layers and join the masses to watch the lights being put on. If all else fails a nice Christmas walk around your town or village to see the Christmas lights people put up in their gardens is always a good alternative!
9. Go Ice Skating - I know this could come under 'visiting a Christmas market' but it's special enough that I think it deserves it's own number. Channel your inner Elsa or Anna and own the ice. You might fall on your bum a few times but either laugh it off or pull some friends down with you!
10. Christmas crafts - Whether it's making cards to send to friends and family, snowflakes and paper chains to decorate your bedroom or whatever craft ideas you fancy, a craft day is always fun. Get your friends round or grab a family member and a few hours later you can be covered with glitter and much happier and more festive than when you started.
What are some of your favourite things to do at Christmas?
We'll be instagramming (no idea if this is a word or not!?) and tweeting all the festive things we're doing this season. Check us out!
