The Opposite of Loneliness // Book Review

The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan is something I've seen around but never picked up. I kind of assumed I wouldn't really like it. And to be brutally honest I think I assumed the only reason it had been published was because she died and who wouldn't publish a book of essays and poems written by someone who died so young? I'm aware how awful that sounds but I'm a cycnic okay?

Let's set things straight though. I was wrong.
I have no doubt that if Marina Keegan hadn't died that day we would have heard of her and read her work all the same. The girl had serious talent.

I read this collection slowly (for me anyway). I tried to treat each essay, story or poem as an individual so that I would really get a feel for each piece.
Some of the writing I didn't love and others I want to read again and study and read again.

This book lends itself to busy lifestyle. You can pick it up, read a short story and leave it for days and read a short essay. It's got everything.

I won't go into the nitty gritty of each short story in this book. Instead I would love to encourage you to pick this book up and give it a read.

Happy Reading!

If you have any book suggestions lemme know!
